The Pirates Dilemma!

The Pirates Dilemma!

A solid design for interactive learning.

A powerful team illustration game - indoors that last for 1-2 hours, offering excellent team interaction, themed options and rich learnings. Perfect as a conference team icebreaking session, or as an indoor team building activity.

""""Change is not only likely, it's inevitable."""" --Barbara Sher

Teams need to successfully plan and partake in a mission in recapturing gold stolen from the Queen by the Pirates. All teams are successful, but some are more successful than others. And, what is emphasized is the overall results of the group rather than individual teams. A great program that is fun, engaging, and easily accessorized with themes of sailing and the islands.

Teams play fast and furious and allow a great deal of collaboration between teams in a theme of optimisation. Fully facilitated by Teambuilding Australia, the music and video, props and costumes only add to the wow factor.

What is valuable is how effective the exercises are in generating insights and discussions about the choices that people make and the issues surrounding leadership. Their simplicity makes the issues of systems and processes for communication and information sharing very obvious. Thus, they link well to organizational change issues, Total Quality Management or Six Sigma, etc, plus has a strong shared vision and demonstrate the benefits of planning and collaboration.

Some Key Design Factors Include:

Rewarding a moderate level of aggressiveness and risk taking, while not rewarding excessive risk nor excessive competitiveness with other teams.
A balanced approach will result in maximum results.
Planning is paramount. Plan the work and work the plan.
Flexibility is essential. New information becomes available that needs to be integrated into the existing plan in a logical way.
Training is optimizing and beneficial, not a waste of time.

They then have to put their plans into action, trusting that luck will not turn bad and their planning fails. In addition, as play continues, teams acquire new information that rewards flexibility and inter-team communications.

Teams of Special Ops forces were transported to a foreign location to deal with a terrorist group which is planning a major offensive. Our mission is for squads to make their way to the enemy base, accomplish as many target missions as possible and return to base. Squads have only 18 days to get to the enemy base and back, safely.

SPECIAL OPS FORCE is educational and engaging; it is an experiential exercise designed to generate a variety of typical team behaviors that can be readily debriefed in a number of ways. The overall goal is to accomplish all the missions; teams need to communicate amongst themselves to develop an overall plan of action.

WHO MOVED MY CHEESE?

WHO MOVED MY CHEESE?

'Who Moved My Cheese? An Amazing Way to Deal with Change in Your Work and in Your Life'

With Who Moved My Cheese? Dr. Spencer Johnson realizes the need for finding the language and tools to deal with change, an issue that makes all of us nervous and uncomfortable.

""Change is not only likely, it's inevitable."" --Barbara Sher

Most people are fearful of change because they don't believe they have any control over how or when it happens to them. Since change happens either to the individual or by the individual, Spencer Johnson shows us that what matters most is the attitude we have about change.

""People can't live with change if there's not a changeless core inside them. The key to the ability to change is a changeless sense of who you are, what you are about and what you value."" - Stephen Covey

Who Moved My Cheese? is the story of four characters living in a maze, who face unexpected change when they discover their cheese has disappeared. Sniff and Scurry, who are mice, and Hem and Haw, little people the size of mice, each adapt to change in the maze differently. In fact, one doesn't adapt at all...

This timeless allegory reveals profound truths to individuals and organizations dealing with change.

Full of modern day insight, the story of Who Moved My Cheese? invites individuals and organizations to enjoy less stress and more success by learning to deal with the inevitable change. Teambuilding Australia recommends Mind Resources in Australia www.mindresources.net as leading facilitators and providers of FISH and other products.

""Everybody has accepted by now that change is unavoidable. But that still implies that change is like death and taxes it should be postponed as long as possible and no change would be vastly preferable. But in a period of upheaval, such as the one we are living in, change is the norm."" - Peter F. Drucker

Myers Briggs Type Indicator

Myers Briggs Type Indicator

MBTI profiling assists not only the individual but the team and business.

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) assessment is a psychometric questionnaire designed to measure
psychological preferences in how people perceive the world, and make decisions. The MBTI instrument, calls it """"""""the world’s most widely used personality assessment”.

Each individual who completes the questionnaire, is Allocated a type, 16 types are typically referred to by an abbreviation of four letters—the initial letters of each of their four type preferences (except in the case of intuition, which uses the abbreviation N to distinguish it from Introversion). For instance: ESTJ extraversion (E), sensing (S), thinking (T), judgment (J).

We recommend MBTI for groups wanting to understand the individual and for individuals to understand
themselves, ideal for self development. Included is an individual access appraisal on line, with a report per
person.

Teambuilding Australia work with Broadmarc and Pivotal Consulting to design and facilitate profiling sessions.

EARTHQUAKE

EARTHQUAKE

Can your team survive an Earthquake?

Earthquake is designed to promote group problem solving consensus decision-making and an understanding of group dynamics. It is a simulation exercise that asks participants to first solve the problem individually and then as a group making agreed decisions.

Participants are asked to respond to the following storyline:
You and some coworkers are in the basement library of your downtown office building finishing a presentation for a meeting the next morning. The building shakes violently. There has been a major earthquake. You begin to pick yourselves up and assess the damage...

Participants determine appropriate action steps to ensure their survival in order of importance as well as those that should be avoided. The scores are then compared against an expert ranking and demonstrate that effective teams generally produce better outcomes than individuals alone (synergy).

Team Workshops

Team Workshops

Team building is the process of building a good team - ie: one that performs well together.

looking at relationships in the team, or embarking on other forms of team building, you need to put this foundation of shared commitment in place by:
0. Clarifying the team goals
0. Building ownership and commitment to those goals across the team
0. Identifying any issues which inhibit the team from reaching their goals
0. Addressing those issues, removing the inhibitors and thereby enabling the goals to be achieved
Team Building is therefore not just a single event (though events can play a part), nor is it something that can be done by someone outside the team (though outside consultants can help). It is a task primarily for the team manager and the team members themselves.
